The Harbourfront Community Centre is a City of Toronto-funded, non-profit organization managed by a volunteer board of local community residents. We work closely with local residents to design and develop the Centre’s programs and services. By involving the community, we ensure the Centre’s activities reflect the needs and interests of our diverse neighbourhood.

From the time that the Centre was first established in 1991, the goal has been to provide a safe and supportive, welcoming environment. The new Centre, built in 1997 is a shared facility housing a public secondary school and a daycare centre. The new facility reflects our ongoing commitment to improving the quality of life for residents of the local Harbourfront area.

In its work the Harbourfront Community Centre strives to:

  • Meet the needs of a diverse and changing multicultural community.

  • Advocate for provision of necessary services to the community.
  • Respond particularly to the needs of youth, children and isolated adults.
  • Provide a range of responsive programs and services in an atmosphere of belonging.
  • Provide full opportunities for local residents to become involved in the board and committees of the Centre and ensure that board, staff and volunteers reflect the local community.
  • Obtain the necessary resources to fulfil the Centre’s mission statement.
  • Be supportive of our staff and volunteers, ensuring they are rewarded appropriately for their work.
  • Act in a fiscally responsible manner.
